Fight Song by Rachel Platten…And I Still Have A Lot Of Fight Left In Me

I heard this song for the very first time tonight, and I said, “Wow!”  It was exactly how I was feeling.  Songs sometimes have a way of doing that.  There is such power in words, and music.

In December, when the 5th Anniversary of Morgan’s death arrived, I felt like I was sucker-punched.  I never thought 5 years would go by without an investigation into Morgan’s homicide.  She was a victim of stalking and murder that was “swept” under the rug.  People write in to me all the time to tell me they are proud of Steve & I for fighting on for Morgan, as well as other victims of stalking.  They say they are “amazed” at how strong we are.  It is really wonderful to hear, and it has helped us a lot, BUT after December it felt like all the air went out of my lungs…I couldn’t breathe.  I woke up every morning telling myself what I needed to do next to fight on for Morgan, but I couldn’t do it.  I was frozen in pain.  I couldn’t fight.

That has now changed.  I am now ready to fight on.  Like the lyrics of this song say – “My power’s turned on.  Starting right now I’ll be strong.”  And this will be “my” fight song.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.  Every time I listen to it I feel Morgan, and visualize her clapping her hands…she never gave up and neither will I.  Justice for Morgan, and nothing less!

Fight Song
Like a small boat
On the ocean
Sending big waves
Into motion
Like how a single word
Can make a heart open
I might only have one match
But I can make an explosion
And all those things I didn’t say
Wrecking balls inside my brain
I will scream them loud tonight
Can you hear my voice this time?
This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I’m alright song
My power’s turned on
Starting right now I’ll be strong
I’ll play my fight song
And I don’t really care if nobody else believes
‘Cause I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me
Losing friends and I’m chasing sleep
Everybody’s worried about me
In too deep
Say I’m in too deep (in too deep)
And it’s been two years I miss my home
But there’s a fire burning in my bones
Still believe
Yeah, I still believe
And all

Security Drones…this would have been a huge help during Morgan’s stalking

During the 4 months of our daughter Morgan’s horrifying stalking, which ended in her death, the idea of motion detector lights that would launch a drone with a camera would have been, in my opinion, the best way to catch her stalkers.  By the time our lights and or alarms would go off and we ran out the door all we saw was darkness.  Even when I saw this person run up to our front door to try the key lock we couldn’t catch him.  He saw me through the window in the door, turned and ran through the front planter setting off the motion alarm and by the time Steve & I ran out the front door he was gone into the night.  Not a difficult thing to do as he could have hidden in a bush or ran around back and over the berm.

Steve saw this ad and thought it would be a good thing to share with others that are thinking along the lines of security for their homes.  Technology can be seen as the good the bad and the ugly, but with all the new advances that are coming online I feel like we should all share some of the good ideas out there.  I know nothing about this company, and I have not yet used this product, but if and when I do I will let you know my opinion.  In the meantime let me know what you think.

Wishing you all peace, answers and justice!

Researchers Unravel The Motives Of Stalkers

Even though this article was written in 1998 it still an extremely informative piece that is full of information from some of the top experts on stalking.  Dr. Meloy is just one of many experts in the field that are quoted in this article.

”Stalkers tend to have both — a mental illness and a personality disorder,” Dr. Meloy, a psychiatrist affiliated with the University of California at San Diego, said in an interview. ”And those who stalk strangers are more likely to be psychotic than those who stalk prior sexual intimates. The latter are more likely to be drug or alcohol abusers with a dependency personality disorder.”
