Was it Arrogance, or Something Worse?

Just What is Going on Here?

Just What is Going on Here?

I feel like I am re-writing the entire stalking case for the third time!  First I compiled what evidence we collected into a timeline, day-by-day because Morgan’s stalking was not once a month – it was almost every day, and sometimes two or three times a day.  Then a year later, I wrote a blog from my notes.  And after all that, with help from the Honorable DA to enforce the Colorado Open Records Act, I finally got Sheriff’s reports, and I was sickened.  But rather than explain that – let me give you an example, just one single example.

It was early November, after 68 days of nothing but different Sheriff’s Patrol Officers coming to our house every time we had an incident, never taking evidence, when Colorado law calls for quick intervention before stalking can escalate into something more serious, we were finally assigned a Felony Stalking Detective and a case number.  We were always encouraged to call dispatch, and not 911, whenever anything happened, because it was easier for them, and so we did.   Now I know why – but that is for another blog.  Keenan VanGinkel, and Brooke Harris were the suspects, a fact known through the neighborhood, to Morgan, as well as by the Sheriff’s Department.  And if you ever watched Brooke’s dad, James Harris on the Dr. Phil show exclaim that he knew nothing about a stalking – click here – for my response.  And now, on to that single example.

Keenan was traveling to a hunting trip in Texas, a fact we would find out from neighbors soon enough, and it would be a busy night in our neighborhood.  After nightfall a person walked from the back door of the house James, and Brooke Harris were living in, along the edge of the berm in our backyard, turning and coming up to the corner of the our house, right where an Aspen tree stood against the back corner of our house – we would later learn it was used to climb up onto the roof – and then this person doubled back over the berm, stopped to send a text message or two, and then came back over the berm, walked alongside our house, across our driveway and front yard, across our next door neighbor’s driveway and front yard, to just before the Harris’ house.  Then a car (seen on our camera) left the neighborhood from the direction of Brooke’s house.

How do I know this? Or, where’s the proof…as Brooke would say. Well that is simple.  It snowed that night, starting an hour before the walk, or march as it became known as, about two to three inches of thick, heavy snow.  A very odd storm actually, as if it happened just to catch the events of the night.  Our video surveillance camera mounted up on the eaves was high enough to clearly show the person texting from behind the berm. (Please note that I told our Felony Stalking Detective about the text caught on camera and showed him, and asked right then and there if he could get Brooke’s cell phone records, because our camera caught the exact time of the text, and he could see who she sent the text to – and if it was her on camera, but he told me it is almost impossible to get those kind of records, and he would not be able to obtain them).  Other cameras would show the person, whom everyone who has seen the camera footage believes is a female, and not Keenan.  So not only did we have the footprints with a very visible trail the next day, but our cameras captured good footage of the event as well as a car departing at the end of the “march” or can we say alibi?  Evidence.

This series of events included everything except the usual terror.  No tapping or banging on Morgan’s window.  No footprints up against the house while the predator tried to peer into Morgan’s windows, only footprints right up to our Master bedroom window.  No scraping noises, no beeping of the front door lock.  Steve and I slept through it all, as did Morgan, and until I saw the tracks through the snow in the morning we didn’t even know it had happened.  Then it became more and more sinister, from every angle.

I called dispatch and then Steve, and he came home from work, easily arriving twenty minutes before the responding Garfield County Deputy.  Enough time (before the footprints melted) to start on a map of the trail (from a safe distance) that the footprints took – from start to finish, including the tire tracks.  He finished the map with the Deputy after he finally came to our house, while walking with the Deputy around the entire trail, absolutely no doubt that it started at the Harris’s house, and then went to various places at our house then circled the front and stopped where a car had been parked.  If fact here is a second map Steve drew up for the Detective after the map he gave the Patrol Deputy was, “misplaced.” Map given to Detective Glassmire

After the Deputy looked and nodded he left, but nothing else.  Not so much as a knock on the Harris’ door to ask about this trail that started at their back door, in the middle of a felony stalking case at the house the trail led to, and circled.  But all was not lost, I realized that the Sheriff’s wildlife camera had just been moved to the perfect spot to catch this walk, right along the berm, it could not have missed.  I called Detective Glassmire to tell him the very potentially revealing news and expected he would come right over to retrieve the pictures of this suspect, but he would not, saying he was very busy and he would do it when he came on his regular Sunday meeting.  He would later cancel the regular Sunday meeting for a week, which meant not reviewing the camera pictures for another week also.  Then the day finally came and we were excited that we were going to see the pictures on the Sheriff’s camera.  The moment Detective Glassmire looked down at Steve and I from atop our ladder and said there were no pictures, the batteries must be dead, we just crumbled – how could this be?

A few days after the walk recorded in the snow, Keenan, all the way in Texas still, officially no longer dating Brooke for many weeks, and moved out long before this happened, was on a facebook conversation and said he had, ”heard,” about the stalker at our house, but it could not be him because he was in a truck headed for Texas at the time it happened.

Just days after that, Steve and I pulled alongside our subdivision road for a rather impromptu conversation with Brooke and her friends, as they walked down the street, we were talking about the stalker – now, for the record, this would be exactly the only time ever, we were talking to Brooke in the subdivision, about anything – and Brooke just had to tell us that she had “heard” that there was new video evidence that exonerated her boyfriend Keenan as the stalker.  And I have to say it – the stalker that she didn’t know that we had, and wasn’t dating, and was not being harassed by as her father James thought, that was someone else. ????

So, sinister, malfeasance, incompetence. guilty as guilty can be, you decide.

But:

  1. The trail started right at the Harris’ back door, at the beginning of month four of a Felony Stalking case, and nobody, Deputy or Detective questions anybody about anything related to this incident?
  2. There are tire tracks preserved in the snow, and nobody, Deputy, or Detective orders or makes a cast of them?
  3. Keenan knows about the, “stalking incident that proves it’s not him,” within hours of the event and brags about it on Facebook – all relayed to the Detective, but no questions, no report, no copies of what was said, nothing.
  4. Brooke knows there is new video evidence that exonerates her boyfriend, or ex-boyfriend, before Steve and I have even had a chance to review all the footage, and send it on to the Sheriff’s Department, as was our normal procedure.  How did Brooke know about this so soon after?  Who told her?  Was she the one on camera like I suspect?
  5. Why does the Detective in a Felony Stalking case not rush out to review the camera for timely evidence, and a possible arrest, or at least come the next day, but instead he waits almost two weeks only to find out the batteries are dead in his camera and there is nothing?
  6. Why did our batteries in every wildlife camera we purchased last the entire four months of the stalking before being recycled into another use with plenty of life left in them, and the Sheriff’s batteries went dead in a few weeks?
  7. Whatever happened to the first map that Steve drew for the Deputy, and reviewed on scene that same day with the Deputy, before the snow melted?  I mean should he have had the Deputy sign a copy and we maintain all the evidence ourselves?
  8. Why were phone records for the suspects for that day never even requested?  If Brooke wanted to prove her innocence it would be a great start.  It would be a tiny part of their records because we could tell right to the second when the person behind the berm was texting.
  9. AND, why is there no Garfield County Sheriff’s Department official report of this stalking report???
  10. And remember this is just one example, just one.
  11. Were it not for the keen memories of Brooke talking to us in the subdivision, and Keenan talking about it on a private message to one of Morgan’s friends on Facebook – it’s as if it never even happened.  Except it did happen, Steve and I were there.  Morgan was there too, only our daughter Morgan is now dead…

  1. Check Morgan’s boyfriend she had before she died he might have given her something, the one with the bag of vodka and otherstuff might have been experimenting, and gave Morgan something, but didn’t mean or know it would kill

    • Wendy – In the beginning of any good investigation you would assume they would check out the parents (or whomever was living in the house) and any boyfriends, etc. The person you are referring to with the backpack found in Morgan’s car with the vodka was an old x-boyfriend who had just returned from Australia 2 weeks prior. I really don’t know how the backpack ended up in Morgan’s car but it was unlocked parked on the street that morning after I moved it for the ambulance, but when she returned home that night she showed no signs of having anything in her body that she had taken so unless he came back to our house later that night (he had our front door code) I do not believe he had anything to do with her murder. And it was murder – we now have scientific proof from a “Forensic Toxicologist/Pharmacologist” that she could not have do what was done to her herself – it was done to her.

      • Dear Toni,
I happen to see you on Dr. Phil yesterday as you talked about your daughter’s death and became interested in your case. You believe that Morgan was murdered by ingesting or being injected with liquid amitryptalin or other drugs. I have some questions about the day before her death? Where was Morgan the night before she was murdered? What time did you last speak to Morgan? What did you notice about her behavior the night before she died? Where you there at your home the entire evening before she died. What happened to the water bottle that Morgan usually drank from? Was that water bottle ever tested for the drugs that were found in Morgan’s body? Could someone have possibly put the drugs in the bottle without Morgan’s knowledge?
I will be praying for you and your husband to find some peace in all of this and for the solution to this terrible tragedy you have been through.

        Sincerely,
        Bryan

        • Bryan – she was with us until 2 pm, picked up a friend and brought him to look for a job in Aspen, went back to his Aunt’s house, asked his Aunt if she could sleep over (she was obviously picking up on some frightening energies about going home that night), was told she couldn’t because the Aunt had a migraine, stopped at another friend’s house on her way home and asked if they would sleep over and they would not so she came home. She spoke with Steve about 15 – 20 minutes after she arrived home and was fine then went to sleep. Steve and I were both home that entire night, but were so exhausted we took sleeping pills and locked our dog up in our room which was not the norm – usually we let her have full access to the whole house at night to watch over Morgan but we were all so very exhausted. Our bedroom was all the way in the back of the house – Morgan’s bed was all the way in the front of the house and with both of our doors closed and having taken a sleeping pill we would not have woken up unless she was able to hit her panic button by her bed to sound the alarm in our room – that button was later found torn off of it’s mount on her nightstand and hidden under some clothes on her bedroom floor.

Days later I found Morgan’s water bottle in her car – the Sheriff’s had never taken it or tested it. Because of the level of amitriptyline in her blood I have been told that if someone had put it in her water bottle and she drank it she would have definitely shown signs after she returned home and most likely would have been dead in 20 – 30 minutes which wasn’t the case.

Thanks Bryan I hope I answered all your questions – it doesn’t take much digging to find things that don’t add up but then again in order to dig you have to go beneath the surface and some investigators are just surface scratchers.

  2. I’m so sorry for your lost and after watching the Dr Phil show today I believe the Brooke and her father had something to do with your daughters death you can clearly tell by there reaction I contact Something needs to be done to get justive for your angle

  3. So I caught this story again on Dr Phil today, First time was a few months back and what I have to say is this. It does not take law enforcement or someone with a PHD to conclude that Brooke was somehow involved in Morgans death. Not to mention, She established her own guilt on the Dr Phil show in my opinion. When asked about having any involvement in Morgans death she did not clearly state her innocence as innocent ppl usually do when being accused of an unspeakable crime instead she states something along the lines of If I did then where’s the proof? Sorry cannot remember word for word what she said but I do remember when she was answering Dr Phil she would not make eye contact with him in fact she looked down and starting twirling her fingers as if she was very uncomfortable and changed her body position that is a tell tale sign that investigators look for in interrogation to see if someone is not being truthful when asked a question. You can look up the signs online and this girl had everyone of them. I sincerely hope they change their minds and open an investigation on this cause just to know that this whole ordeal can be solved by maybe a few phone records makes me sick. I get ppl deserve their privacy and all but let me just say if I was accused of a crime I did not commit I would hand over my phone records to the parents personally WHILE I was on my way to the police station to ask for a ploygraph test. Not because I felt I had to but if I was being wrongly accused I would want the satisfaction of telling everyone to take their accusations and stuff it! So come on Brooke don’t you want the satisfaction to prove us all wrong?

    • I couldn’t have said it better. I noted the same observations while watching the show. Have the police watched the show? There are so many “tells” that should get their attention.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am certain that there are other ppl who Brook confided in, the truth will come out.

  4. Jealous girls or should I say jealous women, always get people to believe that they are good but I have seen it for myself. How a group of stalkers can make your life so bad. They get people to believe them and join them. People really don’t want to think that there is evil out there so they turn on the victims. I have seen stalkers have a group following. I believe you. I will pray that your family gets justice. Stay Strong

  5. I too have lost a child, there is no greater pain. I can not begin to imagine my child being murdered. I watched the Dr. Phil show and those two are guilty! KEEP FIGHTING!!!! You are in my heart and prayers.

  6. Make Brooke take a lie detector test!!!! On Dr. Phil!!! Why did he not give this girl a test??? She is lying through her teeth, I don’t know if she murdered her but she’s lying about something, instead of denying it, she said to Dr. Phil “Prove it”, that’s a guilty response if you ask me!

    • Trish – They had there lawyer with them the whole time they were on the Dr. Phil show so there was no chance she would have to take a lie detector test and she knew it.

    • I was shocked at Dr. Phil’s perspective on this. If he’s saying a proper investigation needs to be done it’s obvious he is suspicious himself so why is it so hard to believe this Brooke girl may have had something to do with it?! The thing I thought most overlooked by Dr. Phil was if someone was trying to plan a murder that looked like a suicide it makes perfect sense they would use medication linked to the victim. I hate to say it but I thought Dr. Phil was behaving like a fool. Didn’t he just write Life Code about these exact people?!
To Morgan’s family, I am so sorry for your loss. I have a teenage daughter and I can only imagine how painful this is especially given the circumstances. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Be strong. I hope the truth comes out and you have closure soon. Much love.

        • Hi Toni
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about your story. You are one of the strongest people I’ve ever encountered. You stood up to Dr. Phil while he was being out right ignorant. I still can’t believe how he treated you. It was incredibly disrespectful. He has written an entire book on what people are capable of and these people he talks about are very clever, manipulative and are very good at pulling the wool over eyes. Dr. Phil himself has been fooled by one of these people. I can’t understand for the life of me how he could be so closed off to the possibility of this girl (Brooke) being responsible to what happened to Morgan. Anyone watching and listening to all of your reasoning could clearly see and believe your theories. You did an amazing job of defending your position.
I know you will never give up finding justice for Morgan. Do not listen to Dr. Phil about taking down this blog. This blog will keep you strong and empower you to move forward.

          With Love,

          Melly

          • Melly,

That is such a sweet compliment, thank you. The producer of the show came up to me after the taping and said he wanted me to know very few people can do what I did with Dr. Phil. Honestly I was just fighting for my little girl, as a family we will never stop until the truth is out. I didn’t know about his book, thanks for sharing that. And as for the episode went, I doubt that it is very often people have to, “lawyer up. “ for the Dr. Phil show. In the “for what its worth department”, a very supportive lawyer who represented Steve and I in a Temporary Restraining Order action brought by the Harris’ that was dismissed told us, “No you don’t need a lawyer to be with you on the show, because you haven’t done anything wrong,” in response to a question from Steve after we found out the Harris’ would have their criminal defense lawyer on stage with them. Not much has ever been made of that statement, but is it really that simple? We didn’t need a lawyer because we had done nothing wrong, but they obviously did…

And for the record, this blog has been an incredibly healing process for both Steve and I.

  7. After watching Dr. Phil…wow Brooke knows something. She didn’t seem to care one bit about what happened to your daughter. How can law enforcement not see it? Does Brooke’s family have connections in the police department???

  8. I just saw the doctor Phil show and that girl defiantly did something or knows something! Her father as well knows something. I am from north Philadelphia where everyone lies and I see that their hiding something. Dr. Phil is being a a.hole and I can’t believe he would talk in that manor. I know someone is hiding something, please continue your search and justice will be served!

    • We will continue on and never give up and please stay tuned because in my heart I know there will be good news coming down the pipe. 🙂

  9. I agree with anonymous…if brooke and her dad are innocent, then turn over your phone records and take a polygraph. she looked guilty as hell, her pupils were dialated as well, sign of guilt! I truly hope an investigation is properly executed soon. Can a professional look at the survellience(sp?) tapes and positively identify the people?

    • Charleen – I believe you are right on all accounts and as far as the surveillance tapes go we gave them to the Sheriff’s department and they said they couldn’t do anything with them but I know other agencies – farther up can definitely do something with them…some of them that we have are very clear.

      • keep fighting for morgan, toni…I will be following your blog and praying for you and your family. do not do as dr. phil suggested and remove your blog!

  10. First and foremost I am sorry for you loss as I just saw your story on dr. Phil however after reading(I have not gone through the rest of the blog yet) I am left with so many questions. How do you know Morgan didn’t already have something in her system when she returned home that night? You said her phone was off for 4 hours and had a brief unpleasant greeting upon her return. And if someone did break into her room during the night where were the signs of break in and why didn’t Morgan scream to alert you. If you think someone murdered your daughter that is one thing but I don’t think it’s proper to publicly accuse someone with no evidence. Now I am not yet a mother so maybe I don’t see the mother side of this and apologize to come off abrupt I just simply do not understand but I do pray that one day you find answers.

    • Jessica,
All good questions that have been asked many times. Using the time she came home and the time Steve finished saying goodnight to her a dose of the magnitude she was found with in her blood would have effected her very much, and Steve observed her as completely normal. As for forced entry without a sign I’ll direct you to this post – http://wp.me/p2wvjS-k3 – also since the time of that post it has been pointed out to me many times that stalkers invade your life, they infiltrate electronic communications such as email, and text on a frighteningly regular basis, they enter your home to take garments, pictures, leave gifts. It is done all the time. If you have a stalker, to think that the stalker is never inside your home, your room, is tombstone mentality as Mark Wynn so aptly reminds victims. Steve and I did not know or properly anticipate this possibility. The Sheriffs detectives never explained the possibility. When I talk about things that have to change this is what I mean. Instead of arguing over whether or not he could enter your house without leaving signs, call it a very likely possibility from the beginning, and take steps to defend. Assume that a stalking victim is under relentless surveillance and attack, this may sound melodramatic at first, but when you consider the percentages of victims that are violently attacked, raped, or murdered it is far too high a probability to ever be ignored. And as for screaming out when she was attacked, that will be a post later today.

  11. Seeing the Dr. Phil show I do believe that Brooke did have something to do with Morgan’s stalking and murder. Her facial expressions showed that she was lying and was hiding something. It surprises me that she lied straight to Dr. Phil’s face. I truly do believe the investigation does need to be re-opened and done the RIGHT way this time. I am disappointed she wouldn’t even take a lie detector test it sounds like to me she is hiding something. Why else wouldn’t she take one? She must have something or some part to do with this. God bless your family and your daughter Morgan.

    • Good point I never realized that she looked Dr Phil in the eyes because she would not make eye contact with me and I really thought if Dr. Phil had allowed me to keep questioning her she would have blurted out the truth

  12. I hope you find justice for Morgan, I know how cruel girls are, and it sounds like an act of jealousy I can’t even imagine what you and your family is going through, and I pray this investigation is re-opened, this does not sound like a suicide something is very off

  13. So I caught the show on Dr Phil today and I was curious so I’ve been reading little bit of the blogs. My question is, if you are so sure that Brooke had something to do with it, then why in the blogs when your speaking of the stalker is it constantly saying he instead of she? I mean it would only make sense to me that if you believed that Brooke had something to do with it you would refer to the stalker as a she not a he… I hate to hear of any child passing away and my heart breaks for your family but I just don’t see how Brooke can be solely blamed for your daughters passing. Your daughter apparently had a past history of depression and drug use , there for the fact remains that anything is possible. You also said that her ex boyfriend had the code for your front door.what makes you think that he didn’t possibly do it. I am also a parent and I also know that if something like this happen in my family, everybody would be a suspect.

    • First let me say EVERYONE has been suspect in our book since day one, and yes her x-boyfriend did have the combo to our front door, but I do believe he still cared a lot for her and would never have harmed her, but he was also a friend of Brooke’s and I think in a new investigation that should be looked into – could he have given out the code while intoxicated or something? I don’t know – I doubt it, but stranger things have happened and like I said on the Dr. Phil show I am not an investigator, and I am hoping that a REAL investigator that knows what they are doing looks at all the facts and evidence and figures out everything that happened.

And Morgan NEVER had depression, the low mg pills she took as a child prescribed by Children’s hospital are never used in that dosage for depression. Morgan had a medical marijuana permit because she did NOT like prescription drugs and wanted to use a natural alternative if she needed anything and was she was so straight laced she wouldn’t do it without a permit. Morgan did not abuse drugs – she had no illegal drugs in her body at autopsy, wouldn’t even take an advil and actually helped some other kids get off drugs so not knowing my daughter please do not say she apparently had a drug use problem, because she absolutely did not!

I say “he” because I believe Keenan was the one in her room that night, and he was the one that stalked and murdered her. I also believe Brooke was involved, and that makes her an accomplice. I also believe both Brooke’s father and mother knew, which also makes them accomplices.

Brooke’s mother made up lies to spread around the neighborhood (our Detective knew an wondered why Brooke and her mother couldn’t keep their stories straight – but I do not see the humor in that) every morning after the Sheriff’s were at our house for another incident – she kept trying to point the finger at all others except Brooke & Keenan…why? She would tell everyone that it was over – the stalker was caught, absolutely not true…why? She said Morgan had gone missing one night when the Sheriff’s came and interrogated her daughter – not true…why?

The strange thing is over the past year after reading so many books about stalkers and serial killers this is not such a mysterious thing to occur – family and friends often lie for the person responsible to try to take the “heat” off the criminal.

  14. The police need to re-investigate this incident thoroughly. it seems like they do not want to find wrong in their assumption that it was suicide. I think there is enough evidence. The footsteps in the snow tells a different story from suicide.

    • Yes and so do all the other “incidents” we had happen. 2 days before Morgan was murdered the lead Detective said they were 100% sure of who the stalker was and that it was going to escalate – that was Tuesday late afternoon and Morgan was murdered Thursday night. We are doing everything we can to get this investigation open and we will. Thanks!

  15. Just watched the Dr. Phil show with my mom and heard about your story for the first time. We both think that Brooke had something to do with it. I’m a 22 year old woman studying speech therapy in college, which hardly makes me an expert. However, as a 22 year old woman, I’ve told my fair share of lies (innocent ones, of course, like “no, mom, I didn’t eat your chocolate cake!”) answering questions with questions to avoid actually answering, avoiding eye contact, fidgeting – all obvious signs she is not telling the truth in my opinion! Girls can truly be incredibly vicious, as I experienced through constant harassment and bullying in my earlier years. No one should jump to the conclusion that Brooke can’t be responsible because she’s a young, pretty, girl. Anyone is capable of this sort of evil. Your daughter is beautiful and looks incredibly happy in all of your pictures – keep pursuing this, she deserves justice! I’ll make it a point to keep checking out your blog and keep you and your family in my prayers!

  16. First of all, I’d like to send y’all my deepest condolences for the loss of your lovely daughter. I couldn’t imagine the horror y’all have been through and continue to go through.
Here’s my question…Why can’t y’all or the courts make that other girl and ex boyfriend, take a polygraph test? Is it because, law enforcement refuses to see the obvious evidence and name them as a suspect?
There just has to be something more y’all can do!! Injustices frustrates and infuriates me! Please, keep me updated. My oldest son (who’s a few months younger than Morgan) and brother are both in law enforcement. Maybe, just maybe, I can help rattle some cages.

    • Diana you are so sweet and you have good questions. Basically when Morgan’s body was found that Friday morning the Sheriff’s started the C.Y.A. and I was told her death had nothing to do with her stalking…really, without an investigation or even an autopsy yet…her body had not even gotten to the Forensic Pathologist yet. So anyway, it’s been hard but we have been working on this for a long time now and even up until just a few weeks ago more information and evidence has come in so we are trying to finish putting it together to present it to a higher up law enforcement agency and try to get her death investigation open. Cross your fingers – we are really close now. Any help or advice your brother or older son can give will be greatly appreciated it. Thank you!

  17. I just want to say I just watched the dr Phil show about this, and even before reading this I felt that Brooke was definitely involved in this. Her answers, & body language totally wreak of guilt and someone lying. I seriously hope that a very in depth investigation is done. I would have loved for Dr Phil to ask Brooke if she was willing to take a lie detector test just to see her reaction.

  18. Just saw Dr Phil and I agree an investigation should follow. The amount of the drug the empty stomach how was ingestion….and the access to the liquid to the one you accuse. The lack of emotion on the chills face and the fear you see in the father. Her background needs investigated as well.

  19. Just watched Dr. Phil show (a repeat). Has an investigation been opened yet? I must add that after watching Brooke I have a funny feeling that she did have something to do with your daughter’s death. Intuition….

  20. i just finished watching the Dr Phil show. I am no investigator either but I can honestly see she is hiding something or guilty. (shows guilt) She couldn’t look anyone in the eyes and was very uncomfortable I could tell that. Don’t give up fight for Justice!! God Bless your family and I pray that you get some closer on this and the people that are involved are brought to justice! Good Luck!

  21. Hi Toni! I left the very long anonymous post a few hrs ago about Brooke taking a ploygraph or handing over phone records to clear her name and as u said her lawyer was there so she knew she would’nt have to take one but I was wondering if she was ever asked to by Dr Phil? as he will usually make that an option for someone to do so if they have been accused and want to clear their name. Also I would like to know if these so called investigators if u can call them that at the police dept ever inquired or did any investigating on how she might have been able to obtain these drugs that were found in her system? I find it hard to believe that a girl Morgans age could get her hands on all these particular drugs and no one know where or how she obtained them I mean someone would of had to give them to her right? If this was indeed a suicide as they are claiming it to be, Especially if they were not found at the scene with her. You would think even in a suicide they would want to know these answers, Maybe if they could swallow their pride and look into where these drugs might have came from it would take them exactly where they need to go with this investigation. As I’m with you on the fact that if she did want to kill herself I am sure she could of found something in her own medicine cabinet to do so. In most suicide cases the pills are found at the scene or close by and if they are not then that should definitely be investigated first and always!!

  22. Toni, your determination reminds me of my own mother. Morgan is so lucky to have you on her side. Keep doing what you’re doing. God bless!

  23. Our prayers are with you . We just seen the Dr. Phil show and we believe your story . It must be frustrating when you are running into roadblocks at every turn. As a parent if my child is being accused of such a bad crime I would do everything to prove her innocence. Example Facebook messages cell phone records anything. Brookes father is not . And Brookes body language clearly shows she knows more than she says. We hope you find justice .

  24. I am sorry for your huge loss. I believe with my heart and soul that in due time the truth will come forward. In the mean time lean on God to help you get through all this pain. I personally feel this young lady is not speaking the truth and she is very very angry and she feels like she got away with something.

    • Glenda,
During the taping for the show she made many comments that were not only false but easily proven to be false. They did not make it to the final show. Brooke and Jim had a criminal lawyer there off camera to protect against, “criminal exposure,” believe me, he was waving his arms wildly at times. The truth will come out because as my Nana told me, it never changes.

      • I saw your story on Dr. Phil this afternoon and let me first say I am really sorry for your loss. Don’t ever give up on proving what everyone already thinks. I don’t know why more ppl don’t agree with you on this!?! “Where’s the proof?” Come on! I watch ppls eyes and body language and she appeared nervous. I know if I was there being accused of something I didn’t do, I’d be mad. However she wasnt. She was almost smiling. Sick. I wish you luck in convicting her…pure evil

        • Tiffany,
In retrospect, the Dr. Phil episode was nine months ago and a lot has happened since then, i feel that on that episode we were not given much of a chance to present any evidence. As you’ve seen from my posts on the blog it takes a lot of words just to convey one circumstantial piece of evidence, that does not translate well to the format we were in on that show. But what it was really about in my opinion is the credibility and demeanor of the suspects. If the show had allowed for the Harris’ to make their denials and then for me to present the evidence a week later that proved quite the opposite the tiny doubt would be removed to no doubt for most. Some will always question but in reality rarely is a murderer caught red handed with a picture of him in the act. They are far more likely to be convicted on a tiny piece of evidence that ties them directly to the crime. For example, in the current Tony Hernandez murder case, a gun clip was found in his house that matched the caliber of the bullet used in the murder and that was strong enough evidence to deny bail. I am confident the evidence we have right now is far more substantial.

  25. I will pray for justice for your family… Brooke and her father are hiding something. You can see it in their attitudes… Someone who was innocent would be practically screaming it and would be crying for your loss. Something’s off… Follow your hearts and instincts.

    • Kerriraine,
Thank you so much and I agree it is very obvious something is terribly wrong here. The more we dig into this case the more obvious that many things were way off becomes only more apparent. The first year was more of a grief bubble, hoping those who’s job it is would do there job. They did not and now Steve and I know it up to us and we are up to the task.

  26. Dear Toni,
I’m so sorry that you lost your precious daughter. I think I would have lost mind mind by now if I ever had to endure what you have. It is so very upsetting to think that an investigation has not been done, it makes me sick. you should not be having to fight tooth and nail for one to be done. Please stay strong and keep fighting for you know is true. You will be in my prayers.

    Much love to you.
    Melissa

    • Melissa,
Thank you for supporting our cause. In the beginning I thought it was a lack of laws to enforce that was the problem. But at this point in the journey the answer is far more egregious. The laws that could have saved Morgan’s life were all there, only they were completely ignored. That must change, our children do not even know it but they are counting on us to do it.

I will always stay strong and I know that Steve is always there should I ever slip.

  27. I believe you! I pray that justice will be served. I saw the show and it is obvious she was involved, an innocent person would be outraged over being accused of murder, instead she was more concerned with your “stalking” of her Facebook. Best wishes!

    • Syl,
In so many ways that I thought only Steve and I knew they are so obvious and to me it is so saddening at the path they chose to take as a family. That is its also so obvious to so many others never ceases to amaze me. At one time they were threatening to subpoena all my comments because they claimed they were all created by me. But as you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, your comment came from you. Morgan’s case will also prevail because it will be nothing but the truth, beyond a shadow of a doubt.

  28. I completely agree with the lie detector test. Clear your name, if you don’t have anything to hide than prove it. I’d be running to get one done so I didn’t have to be accused of something so serious. Her answer “where’s the proof” is pitiful & makes her look like she had something to do with it. Dr. Phil is right though you shouldn’t point fingers (although I can see why you have). Hopefully this case will be re-opened & investigators will find more evidence to bring closure & or justice. Maybe there are different theories that haven’t been exhausted yet. Have you ever looked into psychic investigation? I couldn’t imagine what you both are going through. This case is in desperate need of closure/ justice. I’m so sorry to you both & I hope you both find what you’re looking for.

    • Also where was she earlier right before she came home @9? And if she did commit suicide shouldn’t the bottle be in the home? Either way there is someone out there who know’s something.

      • You are so right Kat but there are more than just one person that knows what happened, and unfortunately keeping information in a murder case is not something they should do and I do believe if they keep it to themselves and sometime down the line it comes out that they were withholding information in a capital crime case and do believe they could go to jail as well.

I do know exactly where she was before 9 pm when she arrived home. She left our house at 2 pm to drive a friend to Aspen to try to get a job so he would not need to move back to Denver – she then went to this friends Aunt’s house afterwards and was unable to spend the night there as she had hoped (I now know she was very uneasy, and worried about sleeping at home that night even though Steve and I were there (we would never leave her alone during the stalking, except one morning when I left for only 20 minutes to go to the bank, and that was very bad – she probably had a bad feeling about coming home that last night) so she then stopped at another friends house on the way home to try to talk them into sleeping at our house, but she was unsuccessful so she then came home.

    • Kat,

We build Morgan’s case piece by piece now. With Steve and I leading the charge and plenty of assistance from others. We do have a psychic medium that has offered us fabulous suggestions of just where we might look for evidence. Many others across the country have offered help from their own trusted physic. It is so amazing how many people who have never met each other or Morgan Steve or I come up with the same suggestions and conclusions. I know it is not for court, but as a tool against the darkness that is invaluable.

      • Whatever gives your family closure. We had a similar situation happen with our family however we were very lucky & we escaped the situation before there were any fatalities. I would be just like you guys “doing whatever it takes”. You need closure and she needs peace. I have such a strong feeling in my heart that you guys will find the answers due to your determination. Always go with your gut!!!! This is the first time I’ve heard this story was today. We send our prayers, Keep on keeping on <3

  29. First of all, I am so sorry for what happened to your daughter. I have a 17 year old of my own and can’t imagine anyone hurting him in any way. Thinking as a parent, if I couldn’t get in touch with my son for four hours, i would want to know where he had been. I think you should look into where Morgan was that night before she came home. You said that you were trying to call her for four hours and she did not answer you. When she came home, she pretty much went straight to her room so you really don’t know what happened that night or who she was with. Maybe the drugs were slipped to her somewhere else other then your home. Still Brookes or her ex-boyfriend could have had something to do with it before she even got home.

    • Thanks Holly for your comment – it was actually only 2 hours that I tried to reach her, from 4 pm when she was supposed to be home until 6 pm when she answered Steve’s text message, but yes, I was frantic because of the stalking and the fact that she was so good at staying in touch with me and had said she would be back at 4 pm. I had that mother’s instinct that something bad was about to happen – I just didn’t understand that it would be after she came home not before.

We do know exactly where she was between 2 pm when she left our house and apprx. 9 pm when she came home – please reach other replies to comments in this section. I do believe the predator came in to our house while we were all sleeping and overcame her while she was asleep – I believe she did wake up briefly and tried to fight him off (re: her defensive wounds) and I know we would not have heard. I have a friend who’s young daughter was brutally raped at knifepoint all night long while her, her husband as well as her older daughter and her daughter’s friends all slept in the back of their house and the younger daughter was in her room in the front of their house…no one heard anything and no one woke up during the attack. Her parents were devastated but lucky their youngest daughter was not murdered that night – so when I hear some people say they can’t understand how we didn’t hear anything I realize they just don’t understand all situations and houses are different.

We now know if Morgan had been given anything before she came home we would have noticed something was wrong – that’s how fast that amount in her blood would have shown up, but we did not – it was given to her much later after we were all asleep.

  30. I watched the Dr. Phil episode. I agree there does need to be a thorough investigation. Morgan’s room should be checked for fingerprints, DNA, hairs, etc.

However, I don’t think Brook had anything to do with it, although she acts like a sociopath. (Her response was to ask for proof, rather than deny. She doesn’t act concerned to be accused of murder nor care that Morgan died.) I wonder if she would agree to a polygraph.

I don’t think Brook was involved because she’s too stupid. For her to be involved would mean Brook snuck into your house undetected, knowing you weren’t home, somehow managed to get 25 amitriptyline pills (a drug that Morgan had coincidentally taken in the past) into Morgan without a struggle, and then sneak out undetected. It’s just not believable. That would be pulling off a perfect murder. You think that nasty little girl could accomplish that?

As to the stalking, that may have nothing to do with Morgan’s death. Maybe Brook and her boyfriend were stalking her, but Morgan’s death was caused by something or someone else. You are fixating on the stalking. You are also focused on Brook. If you are wrong, and Brook had nothing do to with it, you are going down the wrong path. You will never find out what really happened.

You said Morgan was “never on anti-depressants”. Amitriptyline HCl aka Elavil, is an anti-depressant. Your statement referring to Elavil: “If she ever had in that [sic] distant past that would certainly be part of her Medical History and off limits.” No, it wouldn’t be off limits in an investigation to determine cause of death. It’s very relevant. Your explanation of other drugs that were found in her was confusing. Please post the toxicology report. It makes no sense the way you explain it.

With all due respect, you don’t know what drugs your daughter took or didn’t take, or had access to. Teens do not confide in their parents, especially about drugs. Is there someone who might have visited her while you were gone? A boyfriend maybe? And he brought drugs?

As much as I don’t care for Brook, I’m thinking Morgan may have accidentally overdosed. It just seems the most logical explanation. It’s heartbreaking. She was such a beautiful girl. Reading these comments must be very painful for you. You have my deepest sympathy for that, but I’m trying to get you to open your mind to other possibilities and figure this out.

  31. What you are going through reminds me of another mother in tenn..the pilice gave her the brush off too..she used her blog to force them to give her answers…take a look at justice for henry…

  32. I just watched a repeat of the dr Phil show you were featured on and wanted to offer you my sincere condolences. I cannot imagine the pain and suffering you have and are still going through. Not only from the tragic loss of your beautiful daughter, but to not have the police conduct a proper and complete investigation into her death. I too was very shocked at the behaviour of Brooke on the show. She seemed bitter, condescending, and in my opinion guilty. Of what, I don’t know, but she knows something and is not being honest or forthcoming. I truly hope you are able to find justice. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  33. OMG I just watched the show are they blind -DR .Phil wake up!!! That girl is evil to be so cocki about this poor girls death!! May God Bless You and Morgans Justice!!!!

  34. Dear Toni & Steve~

After watching the Dr. Phil show for the second time and even bringing my husband in to view it, I am now madder then ever!! And I so want to stomp that “Good Ol’ Boy”,Dr. Phil, into a mud hole!! How dare he insult you & your intellegence in that manner.
The “Harris Tag Team” needs to be hooked up to a lie detector, right now, before they can memorize their stories. Shame on them!! There are no words to describe people of their nature. It raises my blood pressure just thinking about them.

We are with you til the end of your journey and your heart finds the peace it deserves. One quick question my husband posed~since KVG crossed into another state to possibly avoid prosacution can you try & bring in the FBI?

    Stay Strong!
    Ron & Luauna

    • Thank you Ron & Luauna – until they are forced to take a lie detector test I don’t believe they would ever offer. Have you ever read the book The Sociopath Next Door? It is a great book and a real eye opener. One of our supporters early on gave me the audio book to listen to and I was amazed at what I learned – and all I can say is read the book and then you won’t be so surprised at the Harris Tag Team.

Your husband is very smart and has brought up a point that a very experienced stalking detective has also brought up and now we wait to see…

We promise to stay strong (on most days anyway) until we can get justice for Morgan and help make changes happen for all others suffering through this kind of treatment from poor law enforcement agencies – and remember what I said earlier there are so many wonderful law enforcement agencies out there trying to do their best in the fight against stalking but unfortunately there are still some that don’t and they don’t think they need to be held accountable, but they should.

  35. Just wondering….would a civil suit ( like the families did against OJ Simpson) be an option. The burden of proof is substantionally less than a criminal court.

      • Did Morgan’s house have any kind of alarm system? If so, how were they able to break into the house and perpetrate the crime?

        • We had individual motion detector alarms around the house but we were always moving them around and trying to hide them as this stalker would sometimes find them and move them himself. The alarm by the front door was turned off after Morgan went to bed because the mass of the Patrol Vehicles cruising by our house kept setting them off and we were so very exhausted. The motion alarm Steve had placed to cover the back doors had been put in the garage – it was white and stood out like a sore thumb so we painted it brown and were waiting for it to dry before putting it back. Morgan also had a “panic button” alarm button was secured with Velcro to her nightstand that she would push and the alarm would go off in our bedroom if she felt like she was in danger – she had pushed it in the past and we came running – after her body was found I found the panic button ripped off her nightstand and hidden under some clothes that had been knocked off her dresser. She never had a chance that night to push the alarm and get help. Make no mistake Morgan’s body and her room showed multiple signs of a struggle, 3 broken nails, abrasions on that same hand, blood on her lip, red mark on her forehead, folded and stacked clothes scattered all over the room, mysterious spray on her chest recorded by the first responder that looked at her body with a black light, she was in a position in bed that was not natural and was not her normal sleeping position, she was re-dressed, her PJ’s she was wearing when she went to sleep were missing, and I could go on and on – there is a really long list. Morgan was stalked, Morgan was murdered and now it is up to us to finally find justice for Morgan.

  36. What I am shocked about is the blog follower on dr.phil who was so rude & in-comprehensive to try understand both sodes. I do believe right away that Brooke is guilty, or knows something and I have to say, as a mom I commend you for being so strong to face these people so calmly. I wouldn’t be able to – God bless, I will be praying.

    • Thanks Heather – I had to stay as calm as possible in order to get the information out there. It wasn’t easy because so much of the taping was edited out for the viewers but we appreciate the fact that our daughter’s story is out there because of Dr. Phil and now the time is coming when the whole world will understand all the details of the case.

  37. Hello.

First, I wish to extend my sorrow over the death of your precious daughter. I saw her story on Dr. Phil today, and I felt compelled to write. She was a genuine beauty. Most importantly, is that the God given right to live a full life, was taken away.

My observations and senses…..James comes across as genuine. His body language did not give off anything suspicious other than fear for his daughter and distress over Morgan’s death. I don’t believe he was involved in your daughter’s death. He can look you in the eye and convey his condolences to you, on tv. If he had something to hide, he sure is a good darn actor.

His daughter, on the other hand, makes me suspicious. She does know something. The fact that she remained silent, rather than proclaiming her innocence, troubles me. She also lacks general compassion, but some teens mature in that area, later in life. She was shifty eyed (no head movement). I know there’s no text book that tells us how to react on tv, or in certain situations. I do believe that the body doesn’t lie. It looked like she was trying to keep something inside her. Does that make sense. I think she has her parents fooled and perhaps is enabled to a degree. In this particular instance, who would ever want to believe, without hard facts, that their child is capable of something so sinister? I understand why James feels the way he does. He’s not your enemy. He’s guilty of being protective of his daughter.

Since there’s been no formal investigation, no evidence has been collected to bring Brooke before a grand jury. She’s never been indicated nor charged. That may explain why your investigator cannot obtain her cellular information. She NEEDS to be questioned, extensively. She knows more than she’s

I will keep you all in my prayers, and hope that you will find answers you seek. Never stand in the way of a mother who KNOWS something just ain’t right.

PS. I highly suggest reading Gilbert Harrington’s writings about her daughter, Morgan, who was brutally murdered in October, 2009. You would have a sense of connecting with someone who understands your pain and search for justice, which may bring some kind of comfort to you.

    God bless.

    • I caught some small clips just now of the Dr. Phil show I don’t think it’s Brooke or even her boyfriend but I think they know who it is and I believe it is Brooke’s father James. I was married to a psychopathic attorney and they know how to act because they learn from other people how they are supposed to act–i’m not talking about the stupid common criminal psychopath I mean the psychopaths that own homes and blend into society, those are the most dangerous in my opinion, they don’t feel real emotions themselves, but if they’re smart they learn what they are supposed to feel by watching others and often adopt stories of others. Brooke was a bratty obnoxious young woman, but I don’t feel she has the capability of mimicking such genuine emotions–but would have a hell of a lot to hide if assisting her father perpetrating a crime or covering for him. An adult psychopath with the home and possibly education knows because they learn and mimic how they’re supposed to respond to a grieving mother or respond to an authority figure. They learn you’re supposed to look people in the eyes when speaking you’re supposed to speak in a calm tone or you’re supposed to do other things it’s not real, they don’t feel or know these things themselves, but they are chameleons and educate themselves to what society and others expect from them. I think there was too much cunning and bold and behavior for it to of been a young person.

I don’t think it was one of the young people I think that James was obsessed with her he would know what to look for where to search for information he would even know to involve young people to spread the suspicion and blame and could easily have sent the younger man over into the yard “oh those neighbors are bitching about stalking again, why don’t you go over and trigger their camera just for fun so-and-so Brooke or the other guy if he felt he possibly was caught on another camera he would want to spread the criminality and suspicion. I do think it was the father after reading things I don’t think it was a other guy and I don’t think it was the girl Brooke, but I definitely think she knows very well and he knows very well that the father was up to stalking or perhaps simply hated the parents neighbors (toni & steve) have weird disputes; if you’re dealing with the psychopath he could very well take it out on the daughter not the parents. Most reports make the younger man sound like some young dumb hillbilly thug I don’t think he would have the knowledge of medications and injections nor do I think Brooke would. I do think the other man would leave town knowing he was the prime suspect but promising Brooke he would not tell on her father because then she wouldn’t lose everything. I think it was the father James he looks like a psychopath to me and he looks like an educated psychopath who would know what is expected of an adult in the situation that’s just my Bible and just my opinion because I’ve dealt with the psychopath who is an educated attorney with no real feelings or thoughts of his own but boy is he a quick study. I think it’s the father James I guess is what his name is. Just my opinion.

      • Susi as you can probably see I made a few edits to your post – I hope it was okay. I just did a little spell check, etc. Anyway, I would like to thank you for taking the time to write in with your opinion. What I can say to you is that you are not the only one that believes it was James Harris…I have had many others write in to me to say that same thing. In fact one of the people that stayed in touch with me for a long time actually sent me this picture… http://wp.me/p2wvjS-1NJ

As for the Dr. Phil show James lied many, many times and was pretty good at it. What most people couldn’t understand about the show was that Dr. Phil could not go after Brooke & James as their lawyer was sitting in the front of the audience and actually had to be restrained at one point. It was not your normal Dr. Phil show – he pushed his chair right between Brooke and I when I felt that I was about to get her out of her comfort zone and could get her to tell the truth…oh well. Dr. Phil told us he believes Morgan’s case needed to be investigated, but it never was. He said bring me evidence and by golly I will drive it down to the sheriffs myself…well we have that evidence but even the CBI was turned away so sorry Dr. Phil they won’t be listening to you. 🙁

Young people who develop a serious tendency towards voyeurism may be displaying an early indication of psychopathic tendencies. Serial killers often seek to have complete control over another human being, and watching them in private settings without their knowledge allows some people to feel a sense of dominance. This is a trait many serial killers share from an early age. Another woman wrote in to me years ago, “What if B knew that K was casing your house to steal, but she knew he wasn’t stalking Morgan but, she figured out it was her DAD….oh man that would open up a big can of worms.”

  38. PSS….

Did you ever determine if there were any sexual offenders in your neighbourhood? I believe that info is made available to the public in the US. Go to your local LE and ask if you can get info on sexual offenders living close by. Just a thought the Lord put in my head. I’m not gifted enough to come up with something like this.

You have my email address. IF there’s anything I can do to help, please ask. I’d be more than happy to support you and your family.

    • You are so kind and I appreciate all your help. The Sheriff’s at the time told us they had looked into it but now I realize we need to look in to everything ourselves.

  39. Dear Toni,Steve and all who knew and loved Morgan,
I saw Dr. Phil today and am sickened by the horror you have had to live. I believe you are right that there is a connection to Brooke in some way. Toni you are a real tenacious and very dedicated mom! I admire your resilience and drive to get the truth out and justice for your incredibly beautiful daughter. It is utterly disgusting how the various authorities have done such a pathetic job in serving and protecting!! Stay strong and fight on! I wish you a quick end to the mystery which needs attention NOW! You have my heart-felt sympathy but even more my admiration for being the barracuda mom of a precious wonderful daughter who should never have been taken from you! prayers and hugs sent to you

  40. Hi Toni,

I watched the Dr. Phil episode for the first time yesterday and wasn’t quite sure what to think at first other than I had the impression that you were a bulldog when it came to finding out the truth about what happened to your daughter and that this Brooke girl was extremely arrogant and smug. You could see that in her eyes and it was totally obvious. I then found your blog about the stalking and read almost all of it through last night and this morning. I’m still catching up on the investigative phase but I will continue to read and keep up with what is happening. I have to admit I had a restless night’s sleep and couldn’t get your story out of my mind. The stalking situation alone would have driven me crazy. Reading through day after day of your experience made me feel like I was living through it with you. I still can’t really understand what that must have been like and don’t ever want to find out. It sounded like a horror movie. I just kept cheering you guys on in my mind and wishing the outcome would have been different. Morgan was a lovely, sensitive, creative soul and I know that her story is helping others in similar stalking situations. God bless you all and I pray that justice is done and soon.

    • Lisa you are so cute with the bulldog term – I have been called that before so your statement made me smile. Four months of the stalking had Steve, Morgan and myself completely exhausted and out of sorts. Thank you so very much for all the positive energy you are sending our way along with your prayers for justice.

  41. Just got the chance to watch the dr.phil episode. Brooke and her father looked so guilty! It doesn’t take an investigator to realize that brooke had something to do with this. I am so sorry for your loss. Morgan was a wonderful young lady. Never give up.

    • Thank you Liz for speaking your mind – I appreciate it and we will NEVER give up! I hope I can give you some good news by the end of summer.

  42. I think you need to move on. However painful, you may never find the answers you need. You need to accept that. Peace be with you.

    • I think you are wrong. Maybe your daughter needs to experience what it is like to be stalked and then killed and then you are told, to move on.

Sustained outrage is what Toni and Steve need, until justice prevails. There is no peace, with injustice.

Peace is over rated! Accept that killers, go unaccountable. Hell NO! Toni and Steve are doing the right thing by fighting this, until justice happens.

  43. I’ve been studying criminal justice, criminology, and profiling for quite some time now… And the fact that any law enforcement agency would say that your daughter wasn’t murdered is beyond me. The proof is in the videos! After watching you on the Dr. Phil show it is very clear and I am almost certain that Brooke had something to do with it by the way she answers questions.. If she really had nothing to do with it she would have explained herself more, not just respond with “where’s the proof”. Also, she doesn’t seem upset at all and her voice is very monotone the entire time. Obviously she knows something. Why come to try to clear your name with a LAWYER if you had nothing to do with it? Take a lie detector test and clear your name if you didnt do anything! Keenan also must have something to hide because he didn’t even bother to show up… You have your evidence and the courage to keep moving forward in this case. Never give up and take care!

  44. Hi, toni. Im am deeply sadden by your loss. If theres anything i can do let me know. Ive been a paranormal investigator for a long time now & wonder if your house maybe have her spirit with un answered questions or messages. I know you prob dont believe in ghost but im only here to help. If theres anything i can do let me know please. I had a dream about your daughter after watching her story told by you on dr. Phil. Im not crazy. Im a mom of 2 beautiful daughters and wouldnt know what to do if someone took them from me so i can only imagine what your family has gone through. Feel free to email me if you need someone to talk to:)

    God bless,

    Carrie

    • Thanks Carrie – that is very sweet of you. I know when you are a parent it’s too hard to even imagine this happening to one of your children…it was hard for me to even imagine when it happened to Morgan…my brain did not want to believe it at all. But then you probably know all about the brain being there to protect you, even lie to you, but your intuition is always 100% because that is what we get from God. Our brains just have everything we have been told and heard over our lifetime, which was not always true. I guess that’s where people came up with the idea of “thinking out of the box.”

  45. “I have a friend who’s young daughter was brutally raped at knifepoint all night long while her, her husband as well as her older daughter and her daughter’s friends all slept in the back of their house and the younger daughter was in her room in the front of their house…no one heard anything and no one woke up during the attack. Her parents were devastated but lucky their youngest….”

who was the perp in this case? Could be related to Morgan’s since you were friends with mother?

    • No, they were in another state, and the perpetrator was caught years before Morgan’s stalking ever started – that predator had been stalking young girls, breaking into homes, raping and finally he murdered a girl, and was caught, prosecuted, and is now behind bars – thank God!

  46. I think the perp in Morgan’s case is someone who knew you and her and your routine that night. It is not coincidental that they attacked on the night that your dog was secured and alarms turned off. Who knew you were not feeling well and had kept dog in your room that night?

    • Yes, Keenan VanGinkel moved in three houses down from us just before the stalking started. After months of stalking he followed established patterns of stalkers and became ever bolder and started to appear at places Morgan would regularly drive to, “stare at her from his car,” and drive away. He was never questioned by the sheriffs about these incidents so we do not know what his “excuse” would have been but I have been assured that the mathematical probability of him continually ending up where he did to stare at Morgan would be astronomical. He would fully expose his identity to Morgan during these incidents, an important warning sign that was completely missed by us. You are so right in that how often and for how long he was outside our home to, “eavesdrop,” could have easily been far more than we ever imagined and the extent to which he knew our patterns extensive, another very common trait of stalkers. To think that Brooke, his girlfriend, did not know completely about his stalking and was supportive of it is such a stretch to me its ridiculous. And as he admitted on the day Morgan’s body was found, her Father also knew. Now as I think back on how predictable we really were it is really saddening. If Tessi was not in our room she would sleep by the front door, which was cut glass and from the outside a person could easily tell if Tessie was there, if she wasn’t, she was in our room across the house. And anyone could have easily guessed we were all sleep deprived.

  47. Toni i almost lost it when reading this blog. I cant believe the BS that comes out of these investigators/polices mouth. They couldn’t get phone records for Brooke? Laughable!
So i will tell you about a crime story that took place in Ohio that i watched on Unusual Suspects on the ID channel. There had been an burglary/intrusion into a family’s home and the husband was killed. Since they were a humble Asian family with no enemies, and almost no evidence at scene, the police had to go all out to find out what had happened to the victim. The burglars had gloves and masks on so they couldnt be identified by the other family members. The investigators were very annoyed that they had no leads! So they decided to pull phones records to see all the calls that were made in the area from one hour before to one hour after this crime and they came up with 2 phones numbers that called each other numerous times. Those numbers were not traceable because they were through pre-paid phones (like boost or metro pcs). So the investigators looked at all the numbers that these 2 phones called, and they came up with the same last name as the victim. It turns out that the victim’s nephew went up to these 2 criminals and said that his uncle owns a business and makes tons of money. He is old school and keeps all his money at home, so they should go rob him and split the money with him. The burglar used a duct tape (that he took with him and didnt leave behind) to cover the victim’s mouth, but he used his teeth to cut the tape, so thats where they had his DNA.
So all 3 of them were arrested and sentenced to something like 50 years.

I welcome your feelings and ideas on Morgan's Stalking
