Winter Solstice Starts Today…

Today, December 21st is the first day of winter, as well as the winter solstice.  It is the shortest day with darkness being greater than the light.  After today our days start to get longer. http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/sciencefair/2016/12/20/winter-solstice/95656640/

Morgan loved the snow, but she never made it to the first day of winter in 2011, as her life was cut short by the person that stole her life from her.  The last post she made on her Facebook page, the day before she was murdered was, “I love life!”  She was so excited because she knew the weather forecast predicted snow was on it’s way.  Within 24 hours of her murder the snow came.  All I could think of while watching it fall from the sky was that Morgan should still be here to see this.

Now, as I woke on the first day of winter, five years after that day in 2011, I realize the solstice represents a time to sit back, and reflect deeply.  It is about renewal, as well as gratitude for the coming light.  I am grateful for every single moment that I shared with Morgan during her short 20 years on this planet.

Wishing you all warm and cozy moments with the ones you love.  Every day we have with our loved ones is a gift that needs to be cherished.

December 13, 2016 – Tessi’s 10th Birthday!

Tessi (the birthday girl) & Wylah (Morgan’s fur-baby, now all grown up)

Yesterday, December 13th was Tessi’s 10th birthday. 10 is old for a Newf (short for Newfoundland).

We love her so much, and so did Morgan. Every time Morgan came through our front door, Tessi would trot towards her wagging her tail. I would always hear Morgan call out, “Hello beautiful.”  Tessi loved Morgan so very much, and she grieved for a long time over the loss of Morgan.

Tessi was only 5 when Morgan died. It’s hard to believe it has been this long. Our grandchildren call her Tessi baby…here is the first picture we have of Tessi as a puppy.

Tessi grew up to be a 160 lb. giant fur-ball with lots of slobber…she is so lovable and has such a BIG heart, we were always able to pretty much ignore the slobber.  So last night I put together some of her favorite foods into a birthday cake with 10 candles on top.  I baked ground turkey with rice, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and coconut oil then cut it into layers for the “cake.”  I then “frosted” the cake with peanut butter and pumpkin and stuck miniature doggy bone-shaped treats all around the outside of the “cake.”  Of course we all helped blowing out her candles.

Happy birthday Tessi – we love you, and celebrate you.

Justice will overtake fabricators of lies…

The truth is, and will always be, the truth. Many people try to change the truth, but in the end the truth always comes out, because unlike a lie, the truth never changes. Thank you Dennis Crowley for always believing in us, and helping all the families who are so weak with grief that they have a hard time getting their story out.

Justice for Morgan!

Dennis Crowley from Wheels of Hope For the Missing created the following video to honor Morgan’s life today on the 5th anniversary of her death.  We miss Morgan so much – our hearts are breaking.

We are extremely grateful to Dennis for organizing an online Facebook event for her today called Color My World – you can click on this event, click “going” and view all the beautiful posts, comments and memories.

Dennis posted: Morgan, like myself and all of us are touched by music. When I first saw the photograph I used to make the cover for this event I immediately thought of the song, “Colour My World” recorded by the group Chicago. I can’t think of a more appropriate way to honor Morgan’s life than by using that song to send the message that Morgan did color The World.

So in honor of Morgan and this day, I present to you this very special video I created for her and her family.
