October 17, 2011 – Day 77 of Morgan’s stalking – They Caught Him? Really?

icy leaves

Morgan leaves for classes in the morning and I make a note to myself that she looks great.  I have been so worried about her and now there is a thought that was never considered just last week.  What if it is over?  What if this is it?  We have six cameras humming along all day and night, the motion alarms have found nothing to beep about, and even Tessi have little to bark about.

Last night Steve, out of the blue, said that this is bad to say, but how do you know if it is over, how do you ever really know?  Last night I thought his statement was sort of out there, today it has a whole new meaning for me.  I watch Morgan coming and going and I don’t want to say anything, but then I’m worried if I don’t, something bad could happen.  I wish Steve had not said that.  I really want it to be over, but really, how do we know?

Elliott called me, and that makes it two days in a row, after a long period of nothing.  More news, Elliott just heard through Brooke’s mom again.  He tells me that no one has to worry about the stalker anymore, he has been caught.  Obviously Elliott is looking to me for confirmation, a simple yes or no.  I tell him this is news to me.  I would have thought that I would be the first person that Detective Glassmire would call if the stalker had been arrested, so I’m beginning to doubt the news.

After a second thought, I tell Elliott that I am going to call the detective and verify this.  And that if it is not true I will ask Detective Glassmire to interview Brooke’s mom as soon as he can, as this would be a rumor in incredibly poor taste, if that’s what it turns out to be again.  And if it is true, then what happened? Why were we not told?

Elliott also wonders about how it’s been lately.  If this could make sense that the stalker was caught?  I told him yes, for days now the lights are not constantly going on and off around the house at certain specific times like they had before so maybe it is true – I will check.  Elliott thinks this is just great, he would be so happy to see the neighborhood get back to normal.

I could not have agreed more with him, but I had the distinct feeling I was suddenly being lobbied for something.  But what?

  1. It sounds like E is mining you for information so he can cover his own tracks and pin the stalking on someone else…From the beginning I haven’t trusted this guy for some reason.

    • E is definitely a suspicious dude. I feel as though he is fishing for information to see how much you know. Not to be helpful or anything, either. The way he kept changing the subject when you kept asking who ‘they’ were is questionable. If he were trying to be helpful, why wouldn’t he answer a simple question? After all, he has be offering assistance at any opportunity.

  2. I read in one of your previous blog posts that you said after Morgan had passed E moved with no forwarding address. Did your Detective find this odd? Did they ever try to find him to ask him questions?

    • Well Anon…..she is just re living her day to day life from last year…..she is allowing you to feel what they felt everyday……imagine the suspense we all had everyday…..every night….I think she is being very brave to re live it all over again….sorry you find that “odd” Last year was “odd

  4. So, you thought you were being “lobbied for something” and you didn’t think about it at all that night, or talk to you husband about it then either? No thouhts or ideas at that point? No suspicions of E? Why the cliff hangars?
E is obviously a suspect at some point due to his constant “good intentions”. He’s a creep.
Wasn’t it his house/yard that the red dot from the night vision goggles was seen in the earlier days of the stalking?

  5. anon, I do not find it odd at all

Anon I do not find it odd at all, we all know that Morgan is gone. The parents think her death is suspicious, and they are sharing the story of why they think it is suspicious.Entertainment? I think not, maybe IF the story was not true!

  6. Anon, Toni & Steve do have jobs. Let them tell it how they want. Keeping up a blog is time consuming, especially when you want to make sure you are accurately recalling notes and memories and addressing comments/questions.

Are you not following the story out of even the slightest entertainment? None of us could say that, as guilty as we may feel. Along with wanting justice for Morgan and to give support to her parents, we’re also curious and fascinated.

  7. Anon–I can’t speak for Toni, but I don’t think she’s going for “suspenseful crime-novel ending.” If I recall, she stated somewhere that she is writing it this way to mimic what Morgan and her family experienced as this ordeal unfolded.

  8. Toni- something has been in the back of my mind for a while. Have you considered the possibility that the stalker and the killer are two different people? And that maybe the person or persons stalking her didn’t kill her at all, but maybe a third party did?

    • That’s what I was thinking! Not so much a 3rd party killer but that E might have been doing the stalking and K poss the murderer..so many what ifs I can’t imagine what it was like to live this and the not knowing …also maybe E just knew what was going on and after Morgan was murdered left due to guilt or may E he had secrets of his own that had nothing to do with this, but seemed so suspicious because he was afraid if the detectives started looking further into neighbor’s backgrounds he might be found out? Especially after she died

      • She did mention E had 2 teen daughters, maybe he feared for them cause he watched first hand all the nothing cops did to protect morgan. I too would have left never looked back and not told where i was going… after all the whole neighborhood was still all suspects. I would have thought are my girls next, i mean the stalker stalked morgan for so long he had to have known there were two young girls across the street. Just a possibliity

  9. I just remembered this site: http://www.change.org – it’s a site that: “start a position” “mobilize support” “Win change”. They send out emails to all their followers and get lots of people to sign petitions that push for change. They’ll write up a description of your story and get lots of attention. They’ve had some great success with their causes.

  10. The more I read, the more convinced I am that E, your neighbor was involved. Very involved. From his first mention, my hackles went up, and that has not changed as I read more. I have to wonder, since he had the same shirt as the picture, could he have possibly been that person? Any way? At the least, he seems to have been fishing for information, and the connection to the mother of the gf is quite interesting. Right across the street, right, is where he lived? That would make it easy to pass along information. I know you have stated that you ere suspicious at times, and I believe you had good reason to be.

    • You are correct – my suspicions were raised but he did not have the same body style as in the picture. But he was in contact with the mother of the gf all the time and passing on info. The mother and father of the gf (I should say suspect because she was) both knew what was happening, both were trying to cover it up and I believe both were involved in it even more than just trying to cover it up, which is bad enough. And yes, E lived directly across the street from us, was renting from the same person that owned our house and moved out without warning just months after Morgan’s murder and just 1 week before the detectives finally went to his house to interview him…he was long gone and no one knew where he went.

  11. Toni,

Did they ever do a background check on all the people in your neighborhood to see if there were any sex offenders, people with domestic disturbances in their backgrounds, or people with any other serious and violent crimes in their backgrounds who were living in your neighborhood? They do that sometimes today. Just a thought.

    • Not that I know of Charlotte, although we were shown a photo line-up after the first month of stalking and none of us recognized any of the photos. This was before Morgan realized who was stalking her/us.

      • Ok. They failed Morgan and you on so many levels. They could have taken fingerprints of your keypad on your front door too, since he had tried to put your code in on some occasions. They seem to really not have been taking it seriously. In July of 2012, my house was broken into on a night when I was not home, and they stole everything of value that they could get their dirty little hands on. They turned my house upside down, and there was no visible point of entry. The policewoman they sent out to my house did not take fingerprints and she was not sympathetic to me at all. I was so devastated and angry and scared and was crying. They didn’t even try to find out who did it or my things that were stolen. They told me that I could go to pawn shops if I wanted to, to see if my laptop or cameras or jewelry was there but without serial numbers or pictures of the items,it would have done me no good anyway. I was working at Walmart at the time full time and didn’t have time to try to find my things. I was scared to live here by myself after that, but I had no choice because I had no place else to go. I had a miniature Cincinnati Reds bat that was about 3′ long that I took to bed with me every night, not that it would have done me much good if they would have broken in after that. But it made me feel a little bit safer. I had nightmares many nights after that of coming home and my house being broken into. But I was not going to let these thugs scare me away from my home that I have lived in since 1976. I still have dreams about it to this day.

        • I am so sorry to hear that you had to go through that – it is so horrible to have to be fearful in your own home. When people share their stories I believe it can really help make changes – victims need to be treated with respect.

          • Toni, you are so right. It should be that victims are treated the way we should be. But instead so many times they are so concerned about the rights of the accused.

Could it be that K and his friends were being investigated by the police for something more, and that the police put their investigation of whatever that was, ahead of Morgan’s stalking and put it on the back burner? I don’t know what that could have been, maybe a drug or theft ring? But even if that would have been it, there is no excuse for how badly they treated Morgan and you and Steve. They were sworn to protect and uphold the law, and that is what should have been their first priority, especially since Morgan’s life was in danger and they should have known that.

I welcome your feelings and ideas on Morgan's Stalking
